Terms & Conditions

By using or purchasing tickets via the Nu Metro Cinemas website, the user expressly agrees:

  • To be bound by the Terms and Conditions of Use of the online platforms.
  • That the user has read, understood and accepted these terms and conditions, as detailed below.
Movie Release Dates
Information on our digital platforms regarding movies and their release dates in South Africa is as received from the studios and distributors of the films. This information is subject to change without notice, and should be considered as a guide rather than a set schedule.
Pensioners’ and Children’s Discounts
Discounts applicable to particular age groups or other special concessions can only be claimed when purchasing tickets at the cineplex, as ages cannot be verified on our digital platforms.
Electronic Communications
By using this online platform or communicating with NuMetro (“the Provider”) by electronic means, the user consents and acknowledges that any and all agreements, notices, disclosures, or any other communication, satisfies any legal requirement, including, but not limited to, the requirement that such communications be in writing.
E-Commerce and Privacy
The Provider’s online platforms sell cinema tickets and confectionery vouchers. The use of any product or service purchased from this online platform is at the purchaser’s risk. The purchaser / user indemnifies the Provider against any responsibility for loss, injury or damage that may be sustained as a result of using the products and services sold on the Provider’s digital platforms.
The private information required for completing the orders placed through the digital platforms, e.g. the user’s email address, telephone number, or other personal information, will be kept in the strictest confidence by the Provider and will not be sold or made known to third party companies outside of the Avusa Entertainment group.
Full credit card details are not stored by the Provider.
The provider’s payment service provider, PayGate, undertakes that it has taken all reasonable precautions to secure the credit card processing that is carried out to receive payment for goods sold. The Provider cannot be held responsible for security breaches occurring on the user’s electronic device (personal computer or other electronic device), which may result due to the lack of adequate electronic protection, or the presence of spyware that the user may inadvertently have installed on said user’s device.
Checking of Online Transaction Ticket Details
It is the user’s responsibility to confirm booking details before completing the ticket purchase online. The Provider cannot rectify any errors following acceptance by the user.
Loyalty Programme Benefits
It is the user’s responsibility to enter their loyalty programme details at the appropriate point prior to completion of the transaction. This includes, but is not restricted to, benefits offered to members of the Multiply, Clicks ClubCard, and Scene Club rewards programmes. The Provider is not liable for situations in which loyalty programme details are incorrectly entered or not entered by the user.
Cash Refunds at Cineplexes
No cash refunds for online tickets will be made by any Nu Metro cinema complex. Where a performance is cancelled for whatever reason, cinema readmission tickets will be issued at the discretion of the cinema manager.
Age Restrictions
It is the user’s responsibility to be aware of and to adhere to the age restrictions applicable to movies exhibited in the Republic of South Africa, and governed by the Film and Publications Board of South Africa. Should a Nu Metro manager or other staff member be presented with a valid cinema ticket, purchased online or by any other means, by a person not meeting the age restriction criteria attached to the movie, Nu Metro is not legally compelled to deny entry to the cinema to said person, and no ticket refunds or readmission tickets will be granted.
Right of Admission
The Provider reserves all rights in terms of admission to cinemas, regardless of whether the ticketholder has purchased tickets online or in person.
Updating of the Terms and Conditions
The Provider reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes hereto will become effective immediately upon such changes being made. It is the user’s responsibility to peruse the Terms and Conditions periodically for changes and/or updates. The user’s continued use of the online platforms following the posting of changes or updates to the Terms and Conditions will deemed to be agreement by the user to abide by and be bound by the Terms and Conditions, including such amendments.
Copyright and Intellectual Property Rights
The Provider presents information on its digital platforms. Content currently displayed or anticipated to be displayed on these platforms is provided by the Provider, its affiliates and/or subsidiaries, or any other third party owners of such content, and includes but is not limited to literary works, musical works, artistic works, sound recordings, cinematograph films, sound and television broadcasts, programme-carrying signals, published editions and computer programs (“the Content”). All such proprietary works, and the compilation thereof, are copyright the Provider, its affiliates and subsidiaries, or any other third-party owner of such rights (“the Owners”), and is protected by South African and international copyright law. The Provider reserves the right to make any changes to the online platforms, the Content, or to products and/or services offered through the online platforms at any time and without notice. All rights in and to the Content are reserved and retained by the Owners. Except as specified in these Terms and Conditions, the user is not granted a licence or any other right including without limitation under copyright, trademark, patent or other intellectual property rights in or to the Content.
Limitation of Liability
The online platforms and all Content on the online platforms,including any current or future o3er of products or services, are provided on an “as-is” basis, and may include inaccuracies or typographical errors. The Owners make no warranty or representation as to the availability, accuracy or completeness of the Content. Neither the Provider nor any holding company, affiliate or subsidiary of the Provider shall be held responsible for any direct or indirect special, consequential or other damage of any kind suffered or incurred, related to the use of, or the inability to use, the Content or the online platforms, or any functionality thereof, or of any linked online platforms, even if the Provider is expressly advised thereof.
Choice of Law
This online platform is controlled, operated and administered by the Provider from its o6ces within the Republic of South Africa. Access to the online platforms from territories or countries where the Content or purchase of the products sold on the online platform is illegal is prohibited. The user may not use this online platform in violation of South African export laws and regulations. If the user accesses this online platform from locations outside of South Africa, the user is responsible for compliance with all local laws. These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the user consents to the jurisdiction of the Witwatersrand High Court in the event of any dispute. If any of the provisions of these Terms and Conditions are found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be enforced to the maximum extent permissible so as to give effect to the intent of these Terms and Conditions, and the remainder of these Terms and Conditions shall continue in full force and effect. These Terms and Conditions constitute the entire agreement between the Provider and the user with regard to the use of the Content and this online platform.
Vouchers (e.g. prepaid tickets and Digitickets)
  • Vouchers marked “2D” are valid for one (1) regular “2D” movie ticket.
  • Vouchers marked “3D” are valid for one (1) regular “3D” movie ticket.
  • Vouchers marked “2D” are not valid for “3D” movies.
  • Vouchers marked “3D” are not valid for “2D” movies.
  • Vouchers may not be exchanged for cash.
  • Vouchers marked “2D” or “3D” are not valid for Scene Xtreme, Scene VIP or 4DX offerings.
  • Prepaid vouchers are valid for three (3) years from the date of issue.
  • Vouchers do not guarantee entry to a cinema, as regular box office booking Terms and Conditions, as well as processes, apply, and certain performances may be sold out.

Scene club
  • By registering for the Scene Club you hereby agree to abide by these terms and conditions.
  • It is the user’s responsibility to regularly check the Terms and Conditions, as Nu Metro (“the Provider”) reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. The member will be bound by the most recent Terms and Conditions.
  • Every member of the Nu Metro Scene Club (“Scene Club”) is subject to these Terms and Conditions, which the member is deemed to have read and accepted unconditionally.
  • Scene Club is a membership club / loyalty program open to anyone over 12 years of age. For applications by persons between the ages of 12 and 18 years, a parent or legal guardian must consent to membership.
  • Upon registration with Scene Club, the member will be issued with a Scene Club card.
  • Scene Club rewards are point-based. These points are the currency referred to and used to transact on the Scene Club platform.
  • In order to earn points, the member must present his or her Scene Club card at the time of purchase, either at the time of checkout on one of the Provider’s online platforms, or at the box office or snack sales counters.
  • Scene Club points may be spent on all purchases at Nu Metro box office or snack sales counters, except where otherwise specified below.
  • Scene Club points may not be used to purchase Nu Metro Gift Cards.
  • Scene Club points cannot be used to purchase Nu Metro Gift Cards.
  • The Scene Club card is not a cheque, credit, or debit card, and points accumulated do not constitute cash.
  • The Member may only earn and redeem Scene Club points by presenting his or her card to the attendant at a Nu Metro box office or snack sales counter, or by entering his or her card number before completing the transaction on one of the online platforms.
  • The Scene Club card must be kept safe at all times, as it contains points that can be redeemed by anyone presenting the card. Only original, undamaged Scene Club Cards will be accepted by the Provider at the Provider’s cineplexes for earning and redemption of points. The Provider shall not be held liable for cards that cannot be scanned or are otherwise defective.
  • The points accumulated on Scene Club cards are not exchangeable for cash, and are not refundable and/or transferable. No cash change will be issued, and any remainder of points remains associated with the Scene Club membership.
  • A Scene Club card that is not used on any transactions, i.e. to earn points or to redeem points, for a period of more than twelve (12) months, will be deactivated, and any points accumulated on the card’s account will be forfeited.
  • The Provider reserves the right to withdraw or cancel the Scene Club card or membership, or to take any action it may deem appropriate if it suspects fraud or misconduct. The card and/or membership shall become invalid once cancelled.
  • Membership is open to individual users only. There are no group or company memberships.
  • The Provider reserves the right to accept or reject any membership application at its discretion.
  • There is, at present, no cost to join Scene Club. The Provider reserves the right to review the cost of membership and may, at any time, implement a charge for membership.
  • The prospective member must complete the Scene Club registration process to be eligible for participation. In order for the applicant to be successfully registered, the Provider requires the following information:
  1. First name and surname of the applicant
  2. Contact telephone number of the applicant, or of the parent/guardian in the event of the applicant being a minor over the age of 12 and under the age of 18
  3. South African ID number of the applicant, or of the parent/guardian in the event of the applicant being a minor
  4. Full physical mailing address, or of the parent / guardian in the event of the applicant being a minor
  5. A valid email address and/or telephone number of the applicant, or of the parent/guardian in the event of the applicant being a minor
  • The Provider may, at any time, replace, cancel or terminate the Scene Club offering. In the event of any termination, the user will forfeit any points that have been accumulated. Termination is at the sole discretion of the Provider.
  • Staff members of Nu Metro cinema complexes who are also Scene Club members may at no point have their Scene Club cards on their person while on duty. Using a staff member’s card while on duty constitutes ground for dismissal.
  • Each membership may only be associated with one active Scene Club card.
  • A Scene Club membership may be cancelled should any of the following situations arise:
  1. The member does not comply with the Terms and Conditions listed herein
  2. in the event of the member’s death or sequestration
  3. should the member fail to fully complete his or her membership details within six (6) months of joining
  4. should a member not earn any points at least once during a consecutive 12-month period from the date of successful registration
  5. should the Provider suspect abuse, misuse of the membership, or if provision of fraudulent information is suspected
  6. If so requested by the member, in an email sent to sceneclub@numetro.co.za stating full name, ID number and card number
  • If a membership is cancelled, the member forfeits any points associated with the membership.
  • Scene Club points may be used toward purchases at Nu Metro, provided that the minimum requirements as set out in the Terms and Conditions have been met.
  • The Provider will not be held responsible for lost, stolen or damaged cards. In the event of a lost, stolen or damaged card, Nu Metro reserves the right to charge a nominal fee for replacement of the card. In the event that this card is lost or stolen, the balance of points available on the card may only be transferred to a new card if proof of identification is presented by the cardholder and if the transactional history of the membership associated with said card is available on the Provider’s system. The latest point balance, according to said system, will remain in the system and can be accessed using the replacement card.
  • The point balance as represented on the Provider’s system is final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the point balance associated with any membership.
  • These Terms and Conditions constitute the whole agreement relating to matters dealt with herein, and, save to the extent otherwise provided herein, no undertaking, representation, term or condition relating to the subject matter of this agreement not already incorporated in this agreement shall be binding.
  • No addition to or variation of, deletion of, or agreed cancellation of all or any clauses or provisions of these terms and Conditions will be of any force or effect unless rendered in writing and published herein.
  • No waiver of any of the terms and/or conditions herein shall be binding or effectual for any purpose unless these Terms and Conditions are amended writing herein. Any such waiver will be effective only in the specific instance and for the purpose given. Failure or delay on the part of either party in exercising any right, power or privilege hereunder shall not constitute or be deemed to be a waiver thereof, nor will any single or partial exercise of any right, power or privilege preclude any other or further exercise thereof or the exercise of any other right, power or privilege herein.
  • Intellectual property rights owned by the Provider (including, and without limitation to, the Provider’s brands (whether owned, licenced or otherwise) or rights related to materials subsequently developed by the Provider, shall belong to and remain held by the Provider.
  • Limitation of liability:
  1. Subject to the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act number 68 of 2008, the Provider offers no warranties. Neither the Provider nor any of its respective members, employees, contractors, sub-contractors, agents, workmen or representatives accept responsibility or liability for any damage, loss, claim, or other liability or expense of whatever kind or nature—consequential, special or otherwise—whether for death, personal injury, loss, damage to property or otherwise, including but not limited to medical claims and legal expenses, or from or in relation to the Scene Club or the use or redemption of any points or any other cause whatsoever. The member, or, in the case of a minor member, any parent/guardian of the member, hereby indemnify the Provider against any such claim as aforementioned, and from any cause whatsoever that may be instituted against the Provider, unless such injury, loss or damage results from the negligence or wilful misconduct of the Provider.
  2. Nu Metro gives no warranties, and its respective members, employees, contractors, sub-contractors, agents, workmen or representatives do not accept responsibility or liability for any damage, loss, claim, or other liability or expense of whatever kind or nature—consequential, special, or otherwise—, whether for death, personal injury, loss, damage to property or otherwise, including but not limited to medical claims and legal expenses, or from or in relation to the Nu Metro Scene Club and / or the use or redemption of any points and / or any other cause whatsoever, and the member and any parent and / or guardian thereof hereby indemnify Nu Metro against any such claim as aforementioned and from any cause whatsoever that may be instituted against Nu Metro unless such injury, loss or damage results from the negligence or willful misconduct of Nu Metro. Nu Metro shall not be liable to any member for:
    1. termination or suspension of the Nu Metro Scene Club
    2. inability to earn or redeem points due to circumstances beyond the Provider’s control, including but not limited to systems being offline
    3. any delay in replacing a lost or stolen card
    4. any unauthorised use of a card
    5. the closure of any cinema complexes on a permanent or temporary basis for any reason whatsoever
    6. a force majeure event, i.e. any event out of the Provider’s control
  3. The Provider’s total liability for all claims shall not exceed a sum equal to the refund of any unexpired and unused points on the card.
  • The use of the membership card for the purpose of earning Scene Club points takes place as follows:
    1. The member must present his or her Scene Club card with every purchase to earn points. “Present” means either to present the card the staff member effecting the transaction at a cinema complex, or to provide the card number to one of the Provider’s online platforms. If the card is not presented or the card number not entered prior to the completion of the transaction, the member will forfeit any points that would otherwise have been earned for said transaction.
    2. The member may earn points on purchases made at Nu Metro, including purchases of movie tickets, snacks, drinks, and 3D glasses, but excludes purchases of Nu Metro Gift Cards.
    3. The member may be required to present proof of identification when using the Scene Club card.
    4. The Provider reserves the right to monitor the use of any card at any time.
  • Processes governing the earning and redemption of Scene Club points:
    1. Points cannot be purchased. Points are only earned as outlined herein.
    2. Points are not earned on points redeemed, i.e. the member cannot earn points when spending points.
    3. A member earns 10 points for every R1 spent at Nu Metro, whether at a physical cineplex or on the Nu Metro’s online platforms. For example, if the member spends R100, 1 000 points will be earned.
    4. 1 000 points earned represents a R10 value that may be redeemed at Nu Metro.
    5. After successful registration of a Scene Club member, and after 1 000 points are earned by the member for the first time, 2 000 complimentary points will be added to the points balance within 24 hours of achieving the 1 000-point accumulation. Nu Metro retains the right and discretion to withdraw or amend this bonus at any time. This complimentary points offer is once-off offering per member. A member shall not receive the complimentary points more than once.
    6. A member must earn a minimum of 3 000 points to begin redeeming accrued points using the Scene Club card.
    7. The maximum number of points that may be earned in one calendar day is 10 000.
    8. The maximum amount of points that may be redeemed in one calendar day is 50 000.
    9. AAny proposed point earnings or spend over the above amounts will require management approval, and this approval is solely at the manager’s discretion.
    10. If a purchase is cancelled or refunded for whatever reason, the associated point balance will automatically be deducted from the card’s point balance.
    11. Multiply and Clicks ClubCard benefits also apply, when used in conjunction with the Nu Metro Scene Club card.
    12. Double Points Tuesday: Double points are earned for any transaction made on any Tuesday.:
    13. Double points will be earned on the purchase of any Scene Club Promotional Combo. Scene Club Promotional Combos change regularly and will always be clearly distinguishable from other combos.
    14. Double points will be earned on Scene Club Flick Pick movies. Flick Pick movies are specific movies selected by Nu Metro for eligibility. Nu Metro staff members and advertising collateral, both online and at the cineplex, will notify members if a movie is a Scene Club Flick Pick.
    15. Only one point multiplier bonus will apply per transaction. That is, double points cannot be earned on a transaction that already qualifies for double points. For example, one cannot earn quadruple points for watching a Scene Club Flick Picks movie on a Tuesday.
