Terms And Conditions

By using or purchasing tickets via the Nu Metro website (“the user”), the user expressly agrees: To be bound by the Terms and Conditions of Use of the online platforms. That the user has read, understood and accepted these terms and conditions as detailed below.

  1. Movie Release Dates:
    1. Information on our digital platforms regarding movies and their release dates in South Africa is as received from the studios and distributors of the films. This information is subject to change without notice, and should be considered as a guide rather than a set schedule. The User hereby indemnifies Nu Metro against any and all loss, injury or damages as a result of a change as aforesaid.
  2. Pensioners’ and Children’s Discounts:
    1. Nu Metro reserves the right to request proof of identification for the purposes of verification of age. Discounts applicable to particular age groups or other special concessions can only be claimed when purchasing tickets at the Nu Metro ticket counters, as ages cannot be verified on our digital platforms.
  3. Electronic Communications:
    1. By using this online platform or communicating with Nu Metro (“the Provider”) by electronic means, the user consents and acknowledges that any and all agreements, notices, disclosures, or any other communication, satisfies any legal requirement, including, but not limited to, the requirement that such communications be in writing.
  4. E-Commerce and Privacy:
    1. The Provider’s online platforms sell cinema tickets and confectionery vouchers. The use of any product or service purchased from this online platform is at the purchaser’s risk. The purchaser / user indemnifies the Provider against any responsibility for loss, injury or damage that may be sustained as a result of using the online platform, the products and services sold on the Provider’s digital platforms.
    2. The private information required for completing the orders placed through the digital platforms, e.g. the user’s email address, telephone number, or other personal information, will be kept in the strictest confidence by the Provider and will not be sold or made known to third party companies outside of the group.
    3. Full credit card details are not stored by the Provider. The provider’s payment service provider, PayGate, undertakes that it has taken all reasonable precautions to secure the credit card processing that is carried out to receive payment for goods sold.
    4. The Provider cannot be held responsible for security breaches occurring on the user’s electronic device (personal computer or other electronic device), which may result due to the lack of adequate electronic protection, or the presence of spyware that the user may inadvertently have installed on said user’s device.
  5. Checking of Online Transaction Ticket Details:
    1. It is the user’s responsibility to confirm booking details before completing the ticket purchase online. The Provider cannot rectify any errors following acceptance by the user.
  6. Loyalty Programme Benefits:
    1. It is the user’s responsibility to enter their loyalty programme details at the appropriate point prior to completion of the transaction. This includes, but is not restricted to, benefits offered to members of the Momentum Multiply, Sanlam Reality, Nedbank, Absa Rewards, and Scene Club rewards programmes. The Provider is not liable for situations in which loyalty programme details are incorrectly entered or not entered by the user.
  7. Cash Refunds at Cineplexes:
    1. No cash refunds for online tickets will be made by any Nu Metro cinema complex. Where a performance is cancelled for whatever reason, cinema readmission tickets will be issued at the discretion of the cineplex manager.
  8. Age Restrictions:
    1. It is the user’s responsibility to be aware of and to adhere to the age restrictions applicable to movies exhibited in the Republic of South Africa, and governed by the Film and Publications Board of South Africa. Should a Nu Metro manager or other staff member be presented with a valid cinema ticket, purchased online or by any other means, by a person not meeting the age restriction criteria attached to the movie, Nu Metro is legally compelled to deny entry to the cinema to said person, and no ticket refunds or readmission tickets will be granted.
  9. Right of Admission:
    1. The Provider reserves all rights in terms of admission to cinemas, regardless of whether the ticketholder has purchased tickets online or in person.
  10. Updating of the Terms and Conditions:
    1. The Provider reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes hereto will become effective immediately upon such changes being made. It is the user’s responsibility to peruse the Terms and Conditions periodically for changes and/or updates. The user’s continued use of the online platforms following the posting of changes or updates to the Terms and Conditions will deemed to be agreement by the user to abide by and be bound by the Terms and Conditions, including such amendments.
  11. Copyright and Intellectual Property Rights:
    1. The Provider presents information on its digital platforms. Content currently displayed or anticipated to be displayed on these platforms is provided by the Provider, its affiliates and/or subsidiaries, or any other third party owners of such content, and includes but is not limited to literary works, musical works, artistic works, sound recordings, cinematograph films, sound and television broadcasts, programme-carrying signals, published editions and computer programs (“the Content”). All such proprietary works, and the compilation thereof, are copyright of the Provider, its affiliates and subsidiaries, or any other third-party owner of such rights (“the Owners”), and is protected by South African and international copyright law.
    2. The Provider reserves the right to make any changes to the online platforms, the Content, or to products and/or services offered through the online platforms at any time and without notice. All rights in and to the Content are reserved and retained by the Owners. Except as specified in these Terms and Conditions, the user is not granted a licence or any other right including without limitation under copyright, trademark, patent or other intellectual property rights in or to the Content.
  12. Limitation of Liability:
    1. The online platforms and all Content on the online platforms, including any current or future offer of products or services, are provided on an “as-is” basis, and may include inaccuracies or typographical errors. The Owners make no warranty or representation as to the availability, accuracy or completeness of the Content. Neither the Provider nor any holding company, affiliate or subsidiary of the Provider shall be held responsible for any direct or indirect special, consequential or other damage of any kind suffered or incurred, related to the use of, or the inability to use, the Content or the online platforms, or any functionality thereof, or of any linked online platforms, even if the Provider is expressly advised thereof.
  13. Choice of Law:
    1. This online platform is controlled, operated and administered by the Provider from its offices within the Republic of South Africa. Access to the online platforms from territories or countries where the Content or purchase of the products sold on the online platform is illegal is prohibited. The user may not use this online platform in violation of South African export laws and regulations. If the user accesses this online platform from locations outside of South Africa, the user is responsible for compliance with all local laws. These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the user consents to the jurisdiction of the Witwatersrand High Court in the event of any dispute. If any of the provisions of these Terms and Conditions are found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be enforced to the maximum extent permissible so as to give effect to the intent of these Terms and Conditions, and the remainder of these Terms and Conditions shall continue in full force and effect. These Terms and Conditions constitute the entire agreement between the Provider and the user with regard to the use of the Content and this online platform.
  1. By registering for the Scene Club you hereby agree to abide by these terms and conditions.
  2. It is the user’s responsibility to regularly check the terms and conditions as Nu Metro reserves the right to update these terms and conditions at any time. The member will be bound by the most recent terms and conditions.
  3. Every member of the Nu Metro Scene Club (Scene Club) is subject to these terms and conditions, which the member is deemed to have read and unconditionally accepted.
  4. Scene Club is a membership club / loyalty program open to anyone over the age of 12 years. For applications by persons between the ages of 12 and 18 years, a parent or legal guardian must consent to membership.
  5. Upon registration with Scene Club you will be issued with a Scene Club Card which uses a point-based system, which will be the currency referred to and used to transact on the Scene Club platform. In order to earn points you must present your Scene Club card at the time of purchase, at our box office or snack sales counters.
  6. Only one Scene Club card may be used per transaction.
  7. Scene Club points may be spent on all purchases at Nu Metro box office or snack sales counters, except where specified below.
  8. Scene Club points can currently be earned from or redeemed against online purchases.
  9. Scene Club points cannot be used to purchase Nu Metro Gift Cards.
  10. The Scene Club Card is not a cheque, credit, or debit card, and points accumulated do not constitute cash.
  11. You can only earn and redeem points in Scene Club by presenting your card at the attendant at a Nu Metro box office or snack sales counter.
  12. Please keep your Scene Club card safe at all times, as it contains points that can be redeemed by anyone presenting the card at a Nu Metro cinema complex. Only original, undamaged Scene Club Cards will be accepted by Nu Metro for earning and redemption of points. Nu Metro shall not be held liable for cards that cannot be scanned or are otherwise defective.
  13. The points accumulated on Scene Club cards are not redeemable for cash, and are not refundable and/or transferable. No change will be issued, and any remainder of points will remain on the Scene Club card.
    1. Nu Metro reserves the right to withdraw or cancel the Scene Club card or to take any action it may deem appropriate if it suspects fraud or misconduct. The cards shall become invalid once cancelled.
  14. Membership is open to individual users only. There are no group or company memberships.
  15. Nu Metro reserves the right to accept or reject any membership application at its discretion.
  16. There is no cost to join Scene Club. Nu Metro reserves the right to review the cost of membership and may, at any time, implement a charge for membership.
  17. You must complete the full Scene Club registration to be eligible for participation. In order to be successfully registered, Nu Metro will require the following information:
    1. First name and surname of the applicant.
    2. Contact telephone number of the applicant, or of the parent/guardian in the event of the applicant being a minor.
    3. South African ID number of the applicant, or of the parent/guardian in the event of the applicant being a minor.
    4. Full physical mailing address, or of the parent / guardian in the event of the applicant being a minor.
    5. A valid email address of the applicant, or of the parent/guardian in the event of the applicant being a minor.
  18. Nu Metro may, at any time, replace, cancel or terminate the Nu Metro Scene Club offering. In the event of any termination, the user will forfeit any points that have been accumulated. Termination is at the sole discretion of Nu Metro.
  19. Staff members of Nu Metro who have Scene Club cards may at no point have their cards with them while on duty. Using a staff member’s card while on duty constitutes ground for dismissal.
  20. Each member may have only one active Scene Club membership. If there is a duplicate card issued in error, the duplicated points from the same purchases will not be transferred to another card.
  21. Your Scene Club membership may be cancelled should any of the following situations arise:
    1. You do not comply with the full terms and conditions listed herein.
    2. In the event of your death or sequestration.
    3. Should you fail to successfully complete your registration within six months of applying.
    4. Should you fail to earn points using your card at least once during a consecutive 12-month period from the date of successful registration.
    5. Should Nu Metro suspect abuse, misuse of your membership, or if provision of fraudulent information is suspected.
    6. If requested by you, in an email sent to sceneclub@numetro.co.za stating your full name, ID number and card number.
  22. If your membership is cancelled, you will forfeit any points accumulated.
  23. Scene Club points may be used toward purchases at Nu Metro, provided that the minimum requirements as set out in the terms and conditions have been met.
  24. Nu Metro will not be held responsible for lost, stolen or damaged cards. In the event of a lost, stolen or damaged card, Nu Metro reserves the right to charge a nominal fee for replacement of the card. In the event that this card is lost or stolen, the balance of points available on the card may only be transferred to a new card if proof of identification is presented by the card holder and if the card history (and latest point balance) is available on our system. The latest point balance, according to our system, will be transferred to the replacement card.
  25. The point balance as represented on our system is final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the balance on any card or the balance to be loaded onto a new card.
  26. These terms and conditions constitute the whole agreement relating to matters dealt with herein and, save to the extent otherwise provided herein, no undertaking, representation, term or condition relating to the subject matter of this agreement not incorporated in this agreement shall be binding.
  27. No addition to or variation, deletion, or agreed cancellation of all or any clauses or provisions of these terms and conditions will be of any force or effect unless reduced to writing and published herein.
  28. No waiver of any of the terms and conditions will be binding or effectual for any purpose unless these terms and conditions are added to or varied in writing herein. Any such waiver will be effective only in the specific instance and for the purpose given. Failure or delay on the part of either party in exercising any right, power or privilege hereunder will not constitute or be deemed to be a waiver thereof, nor will any single or partial exercise of any right, power or privilege preclude any other or further exercise thereof or the exercise of any other right, power or privilege herein.
  29. Intellectual property rights owned by Nu Metro (including, and without limitation to, Nu Metro’s brands (whether owned, licenced or otherwise) or rights related to materials subsequently developed by Nu Metro shall belong to and remain with Nu Metro.
  30. Limitation of liability:
    1. Subject to the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act number 68 of 2008, Nu Metro gives no warranties nor and / or each and any of its respective members, employees, contractors, sub-contractors, agents, workmen or representatives accept responsibility or liability for any damage, loss, claim, or other liability or expense of whatever kind or nature—consequential, special, or otherwise—, whether for death, personal injury, loss, damage to property or otherwise, including but not limited to medical claims and legal expenses, or from or in relation to the Nu Metro Scene Club and / or the use or redemption of any Points and / or any other cause whatsoever. You and any parent and / or guardian of a minor child hereby indemnify Nu Metro against any such claim as aforementioned and from any cause whatsoever that may be instituted against Nu Metro unless such injury, loss or damage results from the negligence or wilful misconduct of Nu Metro.
    2. Nu Metro gives no warranties, and its respective members, employees, contractors, sub-contractors, agents, workmen or representatives do not accept responsibility or liability for any damage, loss, claim, or other liability or expense of whatever kind or nature—consequential, special, or otherwise—, whether for death, personal injury, loss, damage to property or otherwise, including but not limited to medical claims and legal expenses, or from or in relation to the Nu Metro Scene Club and / or the use or redemption of any points and / or any other cause whatsoever, and the member and any parent and / or guardian thereof hereby indemnify Nu Metro against any such claim as aforementioned and from any cause whatsoever that may be instituted against Nu Metro unless such injury, loss or damage results from the negligence or wilful misconduct of Nu Metro.
  31. Nu Metro shall not be liable to any member for:
    1. Inability to earn or redeem points due to circumstances beyond its control, including but not limited to systems being offline.
    2. Any delay in replacing a lost or stolen card.
    3. Any unauthorised use of a card.
    4. The closure of any of our cinema complexes on a permanent or temporary basis from time to time for any reason whatsoever.
    5. A force majeure event, i.e. any event out of its control.
  32. Nu Metro’s total liability for all claims shall not exceed a sum equal to the refund of any unexpired and unused points on the card.
  33. The use of the card takes place as follows:
    1. You must swipe your Scene Club card with every purchase to earn points. If you do not swipe your Scene Card at the time of purchase, you will forfeit any points that may have been earned during that transaction. For online, mobile App or self-service terminal bookings, you must supply your Scene Club card number at the time of purchase. If you do not supply your Scene Club card number, you will forfeit any points that may have been earned during the transaction.
    2. You will earn points on any purchase made at Nu Metro. This includes purchases on movie tickets and confectionery, but excludes Nu Metro Gift Cards.
    3. You may be required to show proof of identification when using your Scene Club card.
    4. Nu Metro reserves the right to monitor the use of any card at any time.
  34. Processes governing the earning and redemption of Scene Club points:
    1. Points cannot be purchased. Points can only be earned as outlined herein.
    2. Points are not earned on points redeemed, i.e. you cannot earn points when spending points.
    3. You will earn 10 points for every R1 spent at Nu Metro box office, snack counters and online at numetro.co.za. For example, for every R100 spent, 1000 points will be earned.
    4. 1 000 points earned represents R2,50, which may be redeemed at Nu Metro. Therefore, for every R 100 spent, the equivalent of R 2,50 will be available to spend at Nu Metro using the Scene Club card.
    5. You must earn a minimum of 3 000 points to begin redeeming accrued points using the Scene Club card.
    6. The maximum number of points that may be earned in one calendar day is 40 000 (R100,00).
    7. The maximum amount of points that may be redeemed in one calendar day is 200 000 (R 500,00).
    8. Any proposed point earnings or spend over the above amounts will require management approval, and this approval is solely at the manager’s discretion.
    9. If a purchase is cancelled or refunded for whatever reason, the associated points balance will automatically be deducted from the card’s point balance.
    10. Nu Metro partner benefits (including but not limited to Momentum Mutiply, Sanlam Reality, Absa Rewards and Nedbank) apply when used in conjunction with your Nu Metro Scene Club card.
    11. Nu Metro Scene Club may, from time to time, run promotions and competitions. For such promotions and competitions, additional terms and conditions may apply.

    Absa Rewards

  1. Absa Rewards members receive upfront discounts at Nu Metro when purchasing tickets at the kiosk and Absa self-service terminal
  2. When purchasing tickets, members must select ‘Absa Rewards’, insert their ID numbers and use their Absa cards to confirm that they qualify for the 50% discount. When requested to insert a validation code, an ID must be used.
  3. Members are entitled to the following upfront discounts every calendar year:
    1. (Twelve) 12 tickets for standard 2D and 3D movies (all cineplexes , excluding full VIP cineplexes at Bedford, Hyde Park, Parkview, and Woodlands.
    2. (Two) 2 tickets for 2D and 3D VIP cinema movies (available at the following cineplexes:Cornubia, Ballito, Canal Walk, The Glen, The Pavilion, Clearwater, Trade Route, Bedford, Hyde Park, Woodlands, Galleria, Emperors Palace, and Menlyn Park).
    3. (Two) 2 tickets for 2D and 3D Xtreme cinema movies (available at the following cineplexes:Cornubia, Ballito, Canal Walk, The Glen, Clearwater, Galleria, and Menlyn Park).
    4. Exclusions:

    5. Nu Metro Mountain Mill.
    6. 4DX cinemas.
  4. Unused discounted ticket allocations are not carried over to the next calendar year.
  5. Partner benefits may not be used in conjunction with any other promotion or benefit.
  6. Alternative cinema screening events, including once-off performances screened via live feeds (such as direct broadcasts of music concerts or sporting events), are excluded from all partner/loyalty discounts and other complimentary benefits.
  7. Standard Absa Rewards and partner terms and conditions apply.

    Sanlam Reality

  1. Reality Health and Reality Plus members may purchase a maximum of 30 tickets (2D or 3D) per month; Reality Core members may purchase a maximum of 20 2D tickets per month; Reality Club members may purchase a maximum of 10 2D tickets per month.
  2. Terms of the refreshments combos: Reality Health and Reality Plus members may purchase a maximum of 30 combos per month; Reality Core members may purchase a maximum of 20 combos per month; Reality Club members may purchase a maximum of 10 combos per month.
  3. Each refreshments combo consists of a medium-sized popcorn and a 500ml fountain beverage (soda or water). No substitutions will be allowed, i.e. no chocolates instead of popcorn, no upsizing.
  4. If you want to add any additional items, you will need to purchase them at the concession stand.
  5. The number of refreshments combos purchased may be equal to or less than the number of tickets purchased. A member may not purchase more refreshments combos than movie tickets in the same booking.
  6. Refreshments combos must be purchased at the same time as the movie tickets.
  7. Refreshments combo vouchers are valid for three years from date of issue.
  8. You must take the movie booking confirmation with you when you go to collect your movie tickets at the Nu Metro self-service terminal.
  9. You will receive an additional booking reference(s) if you purchase a refreshments combo(s); this must be presented at the concession counter to redeem the combo. At this point, the member must specify their beverage of choice. Please note: You will receive a refreshments combo voucher for each refreshments combo purchased.
  10. Payment must be completed with a Visa or Mastercard credit/debit card with chip.
  11. Information on the website regarding movies and their release dates in South Africa is as received from the studios and distributors of the films. This information is subject to change without notice and should be considered as guidance rather than a fixed schedule.
  12. It is the Sanlam Reality member’s responsibility to confirm booking details before accepting the ticket offer under the online transaction. Sanlam Reality and Nu Metro cannot rectify any mistakes after acceptance by the Sanlam Reality member.
  13. No cash refunds for online tickets or refreshments combos will be made by any Nu Metro cineplex. Where a performance is cancelled for whatever reason, cinema readmission tickets will be issued at the discretion of the cineplex manager.
  14. If you are having difficulty with the online booking system, you can contact Sanlam Reality on 0860 732 548/9 and a call centre agent will make the booking for you. The payment will also be made by credit card or debit card with a chip.
  15. VIP, Xtreme and 4DX movies are not included.
  16. Partner benefits may not be used in conjunction with any other promotion or benefit.
  17. Alternative cinema screening events, including once-off performances screened via live feeds (such as direct broadcasts of music concerts or sporting events), are excluded from all partner/loyalty discounts and other complimentary benefits.
  18. Standard Sanlam Rewards and partner terms and conditions apply.

    Momentum Multiply

  1. Who may use this benefit?
  2. This benefit is available to all Multiply Premier, Multiply Provider and Multiply Starter members.

  3. How this benefit works:
    1. Members receive discounted movie tickets, based on their Multiply status/level.
    2. Members can purchase one movie ticket per family member registered on Multiply, plus one additional movie ticket for a friend at these discounted rates.
  4. Benefit rules:
    1. Members cannot watch the same movie more than once at the discounted price.
    2. Members cannot give their Multiply membership details after payment has been made to get a discount.
    3. Multiply member discounts will not be given in conjunction with other rewards membership discounts or Nu Metro specials.
    4. Discounts are applicable on 2D & 3D movies, VIP and Xtreme (4DX cinemas excluded).
    5. Partner benefits may not be used in conjunction with any other promotion or benefit.
    6. Standard Momentum Rewards and partner terms and conditions apply.
  5. How to use this benefit:
    1. Members can book with Nu Metro in four different ways:
      1. Online – by visiting numetro.co.za. Members will need to enter their credit card information and Multiply membership number.
      2. At the cineplex wall-mounted self-service terminals – members can book directly at one of the self-service terminals.  They will need to swipe their credit card and capture their Multiply membership number.
      3. At the cineplex till points – members must present their Multiply membership card when making a booking. They will also need to give their date of birth.
      4. Call centre – Members can book tickets through the Nu Metro call centre by phoning: 0861 246 362. They will need to give their Multiply membership number. Multiply cannot accept responsibility if the Nu Metro server is down.
  6. Paying for your tickets:
    1. Please note that members can only pay with a valid MasterCard or Visa credit card when they book online, at the cineplex self-service terminal or through the Nu Metro call centre.
    2. Members can pay cash when they book at the cineplex till points.
  7. Multiply benefit or points queries:
    1. If members have any queries about this Multiply benefit or points, they can contact Multiply by:

  8. Ending the benefit:
    1. Members will no longer have access to this benefit if their Multiply membership is cancelled.

  1. The promoter:

  2. Validity:
    1. The Nedbank Nu Metro promotion will start on 1 October 2021 and end on 30 June 2024.
  3. Participation:
    1. To participate in this promotion, you must:
      1. Reside in South Africa.
      2. Have a valid Nedbank debit, credit or cheque card or American Express card.
      3. Use the Nedbank card to purchase 2D,3D, Xtreme or VIP movie tickets at selected Nu Metro cineplexes.

  4. The Offering:
    1. Participants will qualify for a 50% discount for 2D and 3D movie tickets, plus 50% discount on confectionery combo (a medium soda and popcorn combo ONLY); when booking and buying tickets from any Nu Metro platform (website, mobile, self-service kiosk/terminal, call centre or service counters) using a Nedbank card.
    2. Participants will only qualify for the discounted confectionery combo (a medium soda and popcorn combo if movie tickets were bought and paid for using a Nedbank card).
    3. The Nedbank movie ticket discount is NOT available for VIP, Xtreme or 4DX movie tickets. Customers will not get the 50% discount when purchasing movie tickets at Full VIP cineplexes, (Bedford, Hyde Park Centre, Parkview or Woodlands Boulevard).
    4. Nedbank discounted tickets can be purchased in the same transaction basket as other non-discounted tickets (VIP, Xtreme or 4DX tickets).

Nu Metro, its directors, members, partners, employees, agents, consultants, suppliers, contractors, subsidiaries and/or holding companies are indemnified against and assume no liability whatsoever for any direct or indirect loss, harm or damage to person or property arising from an entrants’ participation in this competition or for any loss or damage, howsoever arising.

If required by law or for whatever other reason at the discretion of Nu Metro, Nu Metro shall have the right to terminate this competition with immediate effect, or vary the terms and conditions thereof, and without notice of such termination or variation to any entrants or winners.   2. The competition will run from 09:00 on 11 April 2022 until 23:59 on 1 May 2022.

  6. Ten potential winners will be chosen by means of a random draw, which will take place on 5 May 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter, should additional potential winners need to be drawn.
