Patrice has found the love of her life, Garry, who is also disabled. They want to get married, but doing so, or moving in together, cuts the government benefits they need to survive. Despite this, they plan a commitment ceremony, but when Patrice’s wheelchair van breaks, she has to quit the job she fought years to get. Replacing the van is nearly impossible, as she can’t have over $2, 000 in her account without losing her benefits. With longtime friend Ted Passon, she recreates scenes from her life, starring children as herself at every age, to show the fight to keep the life she built.
