After 50 years of civil war, South Sudan gained its independence. Now, the world’s newest country needs it’s own national soccer team, and it has just the man to make that happen: Zoran Djordjevic, a veteran Serbian coach who’d taken up the cause of troubled teams around the world flies to South Sudan to accept his greatest challenge yet. Highly emotional, ambitious and 110% committed, Zoran throws himself into the task; building goal posts, scouting talent in the remote countryside (for which no map exists) and forming a bitter feud with the president of the Football Association. Despite the backdrop of the country’s oil crisis, Zoran refuses to take no for an answer. In the rousing, exuberant and bittersweet adventures that ensue, Zoran adopts ‘Champion’, a baby sheep, as team mascot and urges his players to become the tigers their country needs them to be: failure is not an option.
