Underground, where there is no light, the truth is hard to hide. Malcolm Phiri has just obtained, together with a small group of shareholders, his own gold mine. Malcolm has made it! That is, until the gold mine company discovers the existence of Zamas (illegal miners), in their newly-acquired mine.
A no-tolerance policy is implemented and a huge raid on the Zamas is about to take place when Malcolm discovers that his estranged brother is part of the Zamas. Malcolm decides to infiltrate the world of the Zama Zama again, in order to fetch his brother before the raid and hopefully keep the secret of his past from his fellow shareholders.
Malcolm descends on a journey of self-discovery and re-discovers brotherly love, human dignity and suffering—and, most of all, the meaning of love and family.
