South of the city of Durban, on the east coast of South Africa, is an area consisting of a handful of middle-to-low-income suburbs that are linked, not only through their geography, but, more importantly, through their love for football. This area is affectionately known as "South of the Umbilo" river and is responsible for producing many talented South African soccer personalities. An area where ruffians and footballers mixed to form a bond — a bond born out of passion, determination and an undying love for the game of soccer.
That is the inspiration behind this film, which pays tribute to Clive Barker, the South African coach who led Bafana Bafana, the national team, to victory in the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations.
