Opening with the savvy perceptions of twelve-year old animator Cashril Plus, the son of graffiti artist Faith47, the film weaves across a bright cross-section of South Africa’s assorted creators: Faith47 (graffiti), Warongx (afro-blues), Emile (hip hop), Sweat.X (glam rap), Blaq Pearl (spoken word) and Mthetho (opera). Previously segregated from each other’s culture, each creates a new present and the exciting future of creativity in South Africa. The film focuses on each artist’s motivation, social conscience, personal foibles and individual artistic expression to show how, by pushing their own boundaries and those of the national art scene, these colourful innovators provide visual and musical connections between their diverse audiences.
